What is Depression?

  • Depression can be a completely normal response to grief, trauma, and the current state of the world.

  • Depression can occur when the body gets trapped in a state of re-experiencing and experiences difficulty with processing and making meaning after loss, trauma, or difficult life transitions.

What is Anxiety?

  • Anxiety can show up as fear of the unknown and uncertianty, difficulty with routine changes, ruminating thoughts, panic attacks, racing heart, rapid breathing, isolationexcessive worry of wothe worst-case scenario

  • Anxiety can be related to themes of control and safety whivh can be a learned response from childhood, a result of trauma, financial stress, life transitions, and grief.

  • Anxiety can occur when our nervous system gets stuck in a state of survival and/or when we perceive that we have little to no control over our situation, which at times, can be a very adaptive response. Therapy works to support responses that do not fit the current context.
